The marmalade competition, the only surviving event from the cancelled HWHS Annual Show (‘Home Produce’, Class 65), reached its exciting conclusion this morning ouside Woodgreen Community Shop. Renowned fruit preserve connoisseur, Bobby Pawson, carried out a blind tasting – doubly so, with his eyes closed, hence his clear difficulties locating the butter. The eager entrants stood around waiting for the results, as Bobby tucked into his extended breakfast. After a lengthy read of the morning papers and a coffee or two to wash it all down, he announced the winners: 3rd Keith Brown, 2nd Alicia Pawson, 1st Lindi Harper. Well done all!
