How a garden was created; the stories, the good stuff and the disasters.
Wed 22nd March
Talk: “The Modern Kitchen Garden”, Barry Newman
Woodgreen Village Hall, 7.30 pm
Barry is a well known grower, exhibitor, lecturer and judge with formal horticultural training. He is a RHS ‘Britain in Bloom’ judge and has a life-long passion for growing and showing vegetables.

Spring Plant Sale

A wide selection of home-grown and local professionally grown nursery plants at great prices. Please drop off any donations between 9 am to 10.30 am.
Tue 16th May
Main outing, Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, Horsham
“The finest woodland gardens in England.” Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens reopened in 2019, after a ten year restoration. Stunning surroundings, with magnificent spring planting, wonderful woodlands and lakes – certainly a beautiful sight to behold. Enjoy a walk, wallabies and refreshments on our annual all-day coach excursion. Ticket price TBC.

Local Outing to Knoll Gardens, Wimborne (pm)
Award winning designer, Neil Lucas, will guide us through the wonderful naturalistic gardens, blending graceful grasses with striking perennials and mature trees and shrubs. £11.00 per head, 25 max.

Annual Show

Celebrating local horticulture at it’s best! Entry forms to be returned by Wednesday, 12th July. All entries to be staged between 8am to 10am. Public opening from 2pm, prizegiving at 4pm.

Celebratory Centenary Tea and Talk – “65 Years in Horticulture”, Jim Buttress
Woodgreen Village Hall, 3.00 pm
To mark our 100th birthday, all members are invited to a special “Centenary Tea” with guest speaker Jim Buttress. Jim is a renowned horticulturist and entertaining speaker, with a lifetimes experience of parks and gardens, as well as judging at RHS shows and competitions, and presenting on radio and television.
A plant will be donated to the Woodgreen Wildlife Garden to commemorate our auspicious year.

Talk: “Autumn Perennials”, Rosy Hardy
Hale Village Hall, 7.30 pm
One of our favourite speakers, Rosy Hardy, from Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants, talks about seasonal flowering perennials, their attributes, how best to grow them, and great autumnal plant combinations.
A plant will be donated to the Hale Village Hall Garden to commemorate our auspicious year.
Tue 10th October
Local Outing to Sandhill Farm, Sherfield English (am)
Following a very interesting talk from Andy McIndoe back in March 2022, we have the opportunity to visit the McIndoe’s 2.5 acre garden, Sandhill Farm. Andy will give an hour’s tour, as we explore a wide variety of colourful autumn trees, shrubs and perennials. £10.00 per head, including morning refreshments.

Talk: “The Third Eye”, Bill Shepley

The camera in your pocket, useful ideas for picture taking and 6 years of Woodgreen calendars, all with a theme of flora and fauna.

AGM, Social and Gardening Entertainment

…and to conclude our celebratory year: AGM, entertainment – a welcome return to ‘Chapter & Verse’, quiz, followed by drinks and an ‘American Supper’ – please bring a dish or food to share.
