Gardeners’ Question Time & Evening Social
Hale Village Hall, 7.30 pm
Ask local experts for horticultural advice to those tricky gardening questions. Come along to our first meeting of the year for a drink, catch up and to discuss those challenging gardening problems.

Talk: “Trees – an Arborist’s View”, Andrew Harris
Woodgreen Village Hall, 7.30 pm
Local tree surgeon, Andrew, studied arboriculture and horticulture at Sparsholt College, has a wealth of tree knowledge, and formed ‘Tree Menders’ over sixteen years ago. His passion for trees is quite intoxicating!

Photography Workshop with Bill Shepley
Woodgreen Village Hall, 2.30 – 4.30 pm
Our photographic judge will lead an afternoon’s workshop to enthuse and inspire competitors in taking shots of our neighbourhood flora and fauna. 10 people max. Please book ahead.

National Collection of Clematis Montana
Our Vice President, Val, maintains the National Collection of these wonderful plants and will be opening her garden for what promises to be an amazing display. Donations for entry are welcome, refreshments will be available.

A wide selection of local nursery and home-grown plants at competitive prices. Please drop off donations between 9 am and 10.30 am.

Talk: “A History of Furzey Gardens”, Julia Baker
Hale Village Hall, 7.30 pm
Volunteers from Minstead Trust present an informative talk on 100 years of history of Furzey Gardens, how the gardens evolved to become part of the trust and its current involvement and work at Furzey.
Tue 3rd June
Outing: Sandhill Farm
A second chance to visit Andy and Ros McIndoe’s garden and enjoy different seasonal flora and a gentle garden stroll guided by Andy. For around 25+ members, £10.00 per person, morning tea and coffee included. 10 am for 10.30 am start.

Children’s Workshop
Woodgreen Village Hall, 11.00am – 4.00pm
An opportunity for children to enjoy creative activities in preparation for entering our annual show competitions. Lots of crafty fun and delicious refreshments.

Celebrating local horticulture at it’s best! Entry forms to be returned by Tuesday, 1st July. All entries to be staged between 9am to 10.30am. Public opening from 2pm, prizegiving at 4pm.

Outing: Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, Dorset
“A garden for all seasons”, established in the 18th Century in a woodland valley on the Jurassic coast, with an interesting collection of rare and choice plants, wonderful views and pathways, as well as a Victorian garden. Visitors can also enjoy a tea/ coffee shop, garden centre and gift shop. Ticket price TBC.

Talk – “House Plants and How Not to Kill Them”, Charlotte Howard

Charlotte ‘Capability’ Howard, a renowned garden designer, passionate plantswoman, and engaging RHS speaker gives us the low-down on how to really take care of our house plants.

Talk: “For the Love of Roses”, Gillian Taylor
Woodgreen Village Hall, 7.30pm
This is the story of how Gillian became a lover of roses. From having only two a few years ago she has progressed to growing over 250 varieties in her collection. She discusses types of roses, where to buy them, how to use them in various garden settings, their care, and suggestions for companion plants.

AGM, Christmas Social Evening

AGM, quiz, followed by drinks and an ‘American’ supper. Please bring a dish to share!
