2021 Programme?

In these trying circumstances we hope you will be pleased to hear that your Committee has been exploring what might be possible to include in our 2021 Programme of Events. Indoor meetings would appear to be inadvisable for the foreseeable future, except perhaps much later in the year. Instead it might be possible to enjoy a number of our traditional events if we concentrate on outdoors and perhaps scale these back a little to allow appropriate social distancing so that we ...

Plant Exchange

With so many of you capitalising on the good Spring weather and the lock-in to isolate in your gardens we will be running a plant-exchange at the rear of Woodgreen Village Hall starting on Saturday 16th May and running until we run out of plants! Many of you may have sown seeds, made divisions or just dug up un-wanted plants for the Plant Sale which was sadly cancelled. The idea now is that this exchange will not be manned as such; you ...

Suspension of the 2020 Programme – Update

When we wrote to you earlier we said that we would continue to monitor the progress of the pandemic and the regulations associated with it. At that time we cancelled the first Talk and the Plant Sale leaving the rest of the programme open… Following the most recent Government announcements it will not come as a surprise that the planned Outing in June is also now cancelled. Coach outings are not feasible in today’s circumstances and in any case Arundel ...

The Village Hall Garden

A new wildlife friendly garden has been created by Anne Wanstall and her team of volunteers from the old Pre-School garden to the rear of the Woodgreen Village Hall. It is already looking blooming marvellous and there is a seat for quiet contemplation, perhaps as you take your daily exercise around the village. [envira-gallery ...

Suspension of the 2020 programme

We have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation. It is now obvious that the disease is spreading ever more quickly. Government policy is aiming to close down events and may eventually require individuals to self isolate for lengthy periods. Furthermore members and visitors will be naturally reluctant to expose themselves to unnecessary risks. In these circumstances we have taken the decision to suspend our 2020 programme until it is safe to resume. This means that the talk on the 24th ...

2020 Programme

We have an exciting programme of gardening events for 2020! Alongside our hardy perennials such as the Plant Sale and Annual Show we have 4 great talks with inspiring speakers. Anna Pavord, who has a Victoria Medal of Honour, the highest accolade awarded by the RHS, visits us for the first time... and we have return visits by Marina Christopher, Andy McIndoe and Alan Edmondson, who are all returning by popular request. This year’s visit is to Arundel Castle gardens, and ...

Thanks from Horatio’s Garden

Thank you so much to the Hale and Woodgreen Horticultural Society for the really generous donation to Horatio’s Garden charity following the society members opening their gardens recently - what a fantastic number of gardens to open and I am so grateful for your support. I hope the members and their visitors all enjoyed a wonderful day! Your gift will help us to improve the lives of everyone affected by spinal injuries by creating thriving gardens in all the NHS’s ...
