Programme Change

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Marina Christopher is unavailable for the planned talk on Wednesday 25th May. Instead, we are fortunate to have secured Vicky Coral to talk about the Chelsea Physic Garden. Since 1673, Chelsea Physic Garden has occupied four acres of land on the edge of the Thames. First established by the Apothecaries in order to grow medicinal plants, this extraordinary garden in London has had wide reaching impact around the world. Membership and Programme for 2022

We are in the process of delivering your membership cards which also detail this year’s exciting programme. We will be posting your card through letter boxes, but without collecting your subscription in person. This is to keep everyone as safe as possible in these COVID times. If we do not hold your address, cards can be picked up from the Woodgreen Village Shop or at the first meeting. It would be very helpful therefore if you could pay your subscription ...

Marmalade Competition

The marmalade competition, the only surviving event from the cancelled HWHS Annual Show ('Home Produce', Class 65), reached its exciting conclusion this morning ouside Woodgreen Community Shop. Renowned fruit preserve connoisseur, Bobby Pawson, carried out a blind tasting - doubly so, with his eyes closed, hence his clear difficulties locating the butter. The eager entrants stood around waiting for the results, as Bobby tucked into his extended breakfast. After a lengthy read of the morning papers and a coffee or ...

Annual Show Cancelled

Sadly we have to cancel the Annual Show. The restrictions on numbers for indoor events are just too limiting to be able to run a viable and fun event. We realise that this will come as a big disappointment not least for those nurturing potential exhibits. At least you will have the quiet pleasure of enjoying your own efforts in the garden or on your dinner plate!...

Plant Exchange

With so many of you capitalising on the good Spring weather and the lock-in to isolate in your gardens we will be running a plant-exchange at the rear of Woodgreen Village Hall starting on Saturday 16th May and running until we run out of plants! Many of you may have sown seeds, made divisions or just dug up un-wanted plants for the Plant Sale which was sadly cancelled. The idea now is that this exchange will not be manned as such; you ...
