- Entry forms must be returned by 5pm on Monday 12th July (either in person to Sue Harris, Forest View, Brook Lane, Woodgreen, SP6 2AZ or to Woodgreen Village shop)
- Actual show entries to be delivered to the Hall between 8 am and 10am on the morning of the Show.
- Open to the public from 2pm, prizes awarded at 4pm.
In recent years our Annual Show has gone from strength to strength, in terms of both the number of entries and their quality. More and more people (you don’t have to be a member for most of the classes) are having fun taking part and it is great to see so many winning prizes.
If you are a regular entrant, welcome back and, if you are a newcomer why not have a go? There are around 70 classes and 20 awards and cups, as well as small cash prizes.
The main categories include vegetables, fruit, flowers, flower arrangements, photography, home craft and home produce not forgetting the children’s classes. Just about something for everyone, including novices, a limerick and the best smelling rose.
All the information you need to take part, and lots of good showing advice, is contained in the Show Schedule which is produced specifically for the event. If you are a member you should be sent a copy, and copies are also available in the Woodgreen Village Shop. It is very important that you read the Schedule and follow the advice contained therein. Not following the rules can lead to disappointment!
Entering is really easy. Just complete the entry form in the schedule and return it by the Wednesday before the Show, with your fees of 20p per entry. Children’s classes are free to enter.
On the day, bring your entries between 8 and 10 am to the Hall where you will be helped to display them. Judging takes place in private after that, and the Hall opens to the public at 2 pm. 50p. entry for adults and free for children. Refreshments and a raffle are also available.
We announce and present the prizes at around 4pm.
All in all it’s a great day, fun packed and very satisfying when you collect your third prize for your runner beans. Seriously it is good to take part and support your Society. We enjoy organising it, and it is the highlight of our growing year. And hopefully yours too.
